Window Panel Upgrade
The Overlook is a deluxe version of the smaller Grotto Cat Tree. What sets it apart from our other options is not only its size, but it also expands on the types of spaces and has 3 very different levels of privacy. This option works great for multi-cat households because there are multiple routes leading in and out of each resting space, to avoid cats from being cornered. It also comes with a ladder for smaller cats to use to access the mid-level of the structure.
To promote exercise and play, we’ve spaced the hammocks out to create a gap on either side, which can be used to play with your cat using toys or entice cats to paw at each other from the different levels.
The bamboo panels have cut-out triangles that can be used to expand your cat’s view and work really well for playtime. They give cats a chance to practice their hunting skills with their favorite cat wand by hiding behind the panels and then popping out for a surprise attack through the window.
You can open up your cat’s vantage point with the Window Panel Upgrade. This variation has a larger cutout on the second level
Lower level – The most private area is located at the bottom of the structure, perfect for cats that prefer tighter and more secluded spaces. From this area, your cat has triangle cut-out windows to peer and reach through. The largest cat in my house prefers this level because he has a track record of being hunted by other cats. He likes the closed-off cubby, which gives him a relaxing place to nap or observe his environment.
Middle level – For smaller cats, this level can be accessed by climbing up a ladder. For adult cats, it’s low enough to jump up to. It’s made from a solid bamboo shelf with a removable/washable plush faux fur pad to rest on. From this level, a cat can sit on the plush pad with guard against cats sneaking up the ladder and through the Escape Hatch. If they’re unable to hold off the intruder, the middle level sits only 22 inches (56 cm) from the ground, so even smaller cats can jump down to the floor to make a quick escape. It also has two walls for a medium level of privacy. The triangular cut-outs in the wall work well for playing with toys.
Top level – The top of the structure is made up of an extra large 12in (30cm) x 20in (50cm) heavyweight canvas hammock, with ledges to lean against, but that are low enough to allow your cat to observe any direction around their perch. This level is extended higher, so that it can only be accessed by cats able to jump up 16 inches (41 cm). Cats like it because it has a 360-degree view from the hammock and there is only one way for another cat to try and crash the party. Even as the highest level, it only sits 38 inches (96 cm) from the floor and any cat able to jump up in the first place can jump down in any direction to the floor without a problem.
These cat trees are made from solid sustainable bamboo, metal poles, heavyweight canvas, two sisal pads and high-end plush faux fur. All elements are fully removable, washable and replaceable.
